More books in production than ever before! A sneak peak at 8 upcoming books…

31st August 2022

2022 has been a busy year so far at Living Paintings. We’ve already added five new tactile books for blind children to our free library. But we’re currently working behind the scenes to bring 18 more to our collection! This is more than we’ve ever had in production before – and it’s only made possible thanks to the amazing support from our friends and supporters.

Children’s books bring so much joy, but the words are only half the story. No child should miss out on the beautiful illustrations that help them immerse themselves in their favourite character’s world. At Living Paintings, that’s what we’re all about. Our unique tactile, braille and audio versions of bestselling children’s books bring the whole story to life for blind and partially sighted children.

So, of the 18 we’re currently working on, we thought we’d introduce you to eight upcoming books currently getting the Living Paintings treatment in our production room.

Ready Steady Mo!

By Mo Farah, Kes Gray and Marta Kissi

This action-packed adventure features non-other than national hero Mo Farah himself, as he goes on a series of madcap adventures that see his running skills go from strength to strength.

The finish line is in sight with this one! We’re just waiting for the paint to dry…

Ruby’s Worry

By Tom Percival

When Ruby makes a friend – who has a worry too – and talks about what’s bothering her, everything explodes with colour and the world goes back to normal. Ruby soon realises that everybody gets worries, and they are nothing to be ashamed of.

We love this book with such a beautiful and important message!

Clean Up!

By Nathan Bryon and Dapo Adeola

When Rocket goes on holiday to visit her grandparents, she’s shocked by the pollution that’s spoiling their island home and putting the local sea life at risk. Can she think of a way to save the day?

We’re looking forward to bringing this book and its important message about sustainability and caring for the planet to our young library members!

The Burpee Bears

By Joe Wicks

On his downtime from getting the nation fit, the nations favourite PE teacher Joe Wicks has turned his hand to writing children’s books. The Burpee Bears has been incredibly popular, and we’re delighted to announce our accessible version coming soon!

We’re just warming up with this one, but it’ll be jumping into our library very soon!

Coming to England

By Floella Benjamin

The true story of how Baroness Floella Benjamin and her family set sail from Trinidad to start a new life in England as part of the Windrush generation. Will she make new friends? And will she meet the Queen?

A deeply personal picture book filled with optimism, hope and joy. We’re thrilled to be adapting this and bringing Floella’s story to life for blind children.

The Christmasaurus

By Tom Fletcher

William loves dinosaurs more than anything in the world. In fact, that is all he wants is a real one for Christmas! After having a tough year, wouldn’t that be amazing? On Christmas Eve, he finds a very festive dinosaur in his room and together they go on a Christmas adventure.

We know our library members love Christmas books – so its great to be adding this well loved book to our shelves (along with lots of other festive reads!).

Pip and Posy and The Christmas Tree

By Axel Scheffler

It’s Christmas time and Pip and Posy are busy decorating the tree with all sorts of yummy treats! There are candy canes, biscuits, chocolates and a big sugary star. But whenever Posy leaves the room and comes back, the decorations seem to be missing. What could be happening?

Pip and Posy is such a popular series, written and illustrated by Friend of LP Axel Scheffler – we had to start work on bringing their antics to blind children!

Pip and Posy and The Snowy Day

By Axel Scheffler

It’s snowing and Pip and Posy are excited! They decide to go outside and make a big snowman – but that’s where things start to go wrong! You see, Pip wants to make a snow rabbit and posy wants to make a snow mouse! Such a predicament…

We couldn’t just add one Pip and Posy to our Christmas collection – so we’re producing two!

Until then, borrow our latest arrivals!
