Living Paintings

Celebrate and give

A picture of a white birthday cake with coloured candles that spell out 'Happy Birthday'.

Whatever your special occasion, use it to support us by asking friends and family to make a donation instead of – or as well as – buying you a gift. To set up a fundraising page online, find us on Justgiving and Virgin Money Giving.

Set up a challenge

A close-up shot of a man with grey hair, back to back with a little boy.

Blind library member Ted ran a mile a day for 26 days to raise money for Living Paintings, while Alison cycled 26 miles. What challenge could you set yourself to support more blind and partially sighted library members like Ted?

School fair

Three smiling young girls in school uniform stand together in front of a basket of pink and purple pom-poms, two of them holding soft toys.

Annabel, whose brother Monty is a library member, made and sold pom poms at her school fair to raise funds for us. What could you make?

Cake sale

A cake stand holding lots of cupcakes, and a dish with a lemon cake which is cut into squares.

Whether it’s cup cakes, flapjack or carrot cake, have fun and try out your baking skills with a cake sale. You could take your tasty treats into school, work or invite friends over.

School paper plane competition

A shot of lots of colourful paper aeroplanes.

Have a paper plane competition. Ask if you can use the school hall, and charge a small entrance fee. You can have all sorts of different classes, like furthest distance flown, fly the plane through the hoop, or most unusual design.

Get into character

Why not have a dress-up day at school or work? Ask everyone to pay £1 to dress up as their favourite character from a Touch to See book.
