Elephant wants to climb a tree – not a bird tree, or a monkey tree, or a tiger tree, but an elephant tree. So Elephant and his friends set out to find one.

On the front cover there is a lovely picture of a little boy with his arms around the neck of a big grey elephant.
It is winter-time and thick snow covers the ground on which the elephant is sitting. He has a blue scarf round his neck to keep him warm and in his long grey trunk he is holding a thin branch. Sitting beside him is a little mouse with big ears holding onto one end of the branch. The mouse is dressed in a blue winter coat with blue shoes to match.
The boy looks very snug in his red woolly jacket, red bobble hat with a green pom-pom, a green scarf to match green trousers and red wellies. He's wearing blue mitts.
