It’s my great pleasure to introduce to a host of sports stars. Each person had a dream to succeed when they were young. They have overcome challenges in life, achieved their goals through hard work and determination and along the way they have helped their community too.
Hello, I’m Ellie Simmonds, lovely to meet you. Together we’re going to explore a tactile picture of me and then I will tell you more about myself and my swimming career. This tactile picture is created from a photograph of me swimming at the Aquatic Centre in the Olympic Park, London where I was training for day 7 of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
Sir Lewis Hamilton is one of the world’s best known Formula 1 racing drivers. His road to fame wasn’t always that easy though. When I was seven I started go-karting when my dad bought me a go-kart for Christmas which was the coolest gift and when I was eight I started racing and entering competitions and racing against other kids. It was very expensive and so my Dad promised me that if I worked hard at school then he would do everything he could to support me racing.
This tactile picture introduces a remarkable football player, Marcus Rashford. During his football career he’s broken a number of records and has been a wonderful role model by inspiring others to enjoy and take part in sport regardless of the challenges that they may find.
I hope you enjoy this guide to a few of our amazing sporting heroes.
