I’m thrilled to introduce you to this touch and sound book about Paralympic superstars. You can learn about some of the Para sports at the games, from wheelchair track racing to para equestrian. You’ll hear from some gold medal winning athletes and they’ll share their stories and special memories with you.

Well for me I think I was very lucky I competed in 5 Paralympic games so each games has a different memory. My first games was in Seoul in 1988 and I went there as quite a young athlete so the culture and the language and the food, everything about Korea was so different from everything that I had experienced growing up in Cardiff.

This tactile picture is created from a photograph of me swimming at the Aquatic Centre in the Olympic Park, London where I was training for Day 7 of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Equestrian events first appeared on the Paralympic programme at the 1984 games, held in Stoke Mandeville and New York, and they have featured at every games since Atlanta in 1996. Riders with any type of physical or visual impairment complete alongside each other in para dressage events.

Inspired Students The students have been so inspired by what they have learned from your pictures, as many of them had no idea what skis actually looked like, and they were also surprised to learn that many 'dives' meant that the swimmer had to start by standing with his back to the pool, rather than facing it.
Interesting Interesting topic, the student loved this teaching pack as he loved the information given and gets to explore the pictures.
