Penny Dann’s ‘Incey Wincey Spider’ is a wonderful and friendly character complete with hat and umbrella! You and your toddler can join Incey climbing up the waterspout, performing the rhyme as you go along.
Hello. I wonder if you have ever played the action game with mummy or daddy to the words of Incey Wincey Spider? Penny Dann has drawn some lovely pictures to go with the rhyme. My name is Lisa and I am going to tell you about these pictures and the families who have such fun acting out the rhyme. Perhaps you would like to join in with them as you read the words.
On the front cover is the title in Braille for you to read. In the picture is Incey Wincey spider, standing in the round opening of a large yellow water spout (or drainpipe) where the water comes out. He looks very jolly with his tall green hat on his head, a matching neatly folded umbrella held high by one of his eight spidery legs and a cheerful smile on his face. Bright red flowers, with large petals and yellow stamens in their centres, pop out from their curling green leaves all around the opening of the drainpipe. Nearby, a beautiful butterfly with delicate pinkish blue wings, each marked with a white circle and a coloured dot in its centre, is fluttering in the air, curious to find out where Incey Wincey is going. A red ladybird with one black spot on her back has settled on a flower petal, also waiting to see what happens.
