Abi and mum love our books

22nd September 2015

Mum and daughter share their story of how the simple pleasure of reading is made all the more enjoyable by our Touch to See books.

“Hi, my name’s Tracey and I’m Abi’s mum, she is five and a Living Paintings library member. I wanted to tell you why we love borrowing from Living Paintings library and share some photographs of her enjoying their Touch to See picture book, Nine Ducks Nine by Sarah Hayes.

Living Paintings provide a brilliant service. I have borrowed a lovely range of adapted tactile books for my 5 year old. They are so accessible and she loves opening up the box to find out what books she has to enjoy next.

I often feel that younger visually impaired children particularly miss out on details that appear in the illustrations, so I love the textured pages and the audio description that comes with the books. We haven’t found anything similar on offer locally, so the fact that it’s as simple as borrowing a book from the library (perhaps even a little easier) is a bonus!”
