Our brand new Christmas books for blind children!
21st December 2022
Christmas is finally here and the Living Paintings Elves have been hard at work creating a range of new tactile-audio picture books for blind children!
This is always a busy time at Living Paintings – the Christmas books we have in our library always fly off the shelves! The Snowman is by far the most popular picture book in our collection – and this year we’ve worked extra-hard to add more titles to our festive offering. We’ve also updated some old favourites with even more tactile images for little fingers to explore!
The Christmasaurus
By Tom Fletcher
William LOVES dinosaurs. Who can blame him? Other than that, he lives a pretty normal life. He goes to school, has lots of friends and if perfectly happy being a wheelchair user. But this all changes when a new girl starts at his school…suddenly he is made to feel different.
Meanwhile in the North Pole, the last dinosaur alive is in a similar position. He loves his life and his elf friends, but he can’t help but feel alone.
What will happen when the two are thrown together one Christmas? And what can they learn from each other?
Pip and Posy and the Snowy Day
By Axel Scheffler
It’s snowing outside and Pip and Posy can’t wait to wrap up warm and go outside! What could possibly go wrong?
Everything seems to be going well until the pair decide to build a snowman. But there’s a problem…Pip wants to build a SnowMOUSE and Posy wants to build a SnowRABBIT! How will the figure this one out?
Pip and Posy and the Christmas Tree
By Axel Scheffler
Pip and Posy are so popular, we couldn’t possibly just adapt one book!
In our second adaption, Pip and Posy decide to decorate a Christmas tree together. Their decorations are made of sweets, gingerbread and a delicious looking star…
There’s a problem though. Whenever Posy leaves the room, when she returns there seem to be less decorations on the tree?
What’s happening to them, then?
Stick Man
By Julia Donaldson
This awesome book has been in our collection for a while, but it’s so popular with our library members we’ve decided to give it an upgrade. Now, you’ll find brand new tactile pictures inside – including a fabulous Santa’s sleigh!
In this well-loved tale, the Stick Man lives in the woods with his wife and their three little stick children. One day, he becomes separated from his family and must travel across the seasons to get home in time for Christmas.
Could a chance meeting with Santa help him reunite the ‘family tree’?
