A moving, lyrical picture book about a child unlocking the power of their own voice through poetry, with the helping hand of an extra special teacher, written by multi-award winning poet and Waterstones Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho.

From the creators of If All The World Were, winner of the 2019 Independent Book Shop Picture Book Award which has been translated into 13 languages, this beautifully illustrated, powerful and heartwarming text shows children that everyone’s voice can be powerful and beautiful, however small.

Allison Colpoys’ gorgeous artwork spills from every page as she shows this most heartwarming of tales. Follow a child who is so shy she doesn’t speak.

With the encouragement on an enchanting and magical teacher, she writes a poem. But a poem is meant to be read aloud! She musters all her courage, stands at the front of the class and shows her classmates that she does have a voice. And her voice is BEAUTIFUL!

This is a story about a young girl who is anxious and finds it hard to talk when she is isn’t comfortable. But, inspired by her amazing teacher she finds the courage.
On the right is our first feely picture which shows the class teacher, Miss Flotsam, who’s smiling and waving at us, “Hello, Miss Flotsam”. Fluttering around in the bottom left hand corner is a beautiful bird which is facing over to the left. Trace down and to the left to find it. The bird has an orange body, blue wings and wonderfully long, flowing tail feathers. At the bottom of the page Miss Flotsam is in a large, bustling market where there are some amazing fruit and vegetables for sale in all the colours of the rainbow.
On the last page of the book the little girl has a huge smile on her face as Miss Flotsam congratulates her. Behind them the other children are smiling and waving their arms in the air.
