In this book we’re going to venture into some very magical and sometimes mysterious worlds of fantasy fiction, meeting some of their main characters along the way. You will also find out about the strong imaginations of the authors that wrote these amazing books and the often complex worlds they created. Readers include actors Imelda Staunton and there is a contribution from Martin Freeman, star of The Hobbit movie trilogy.

Bilbo is the central character of The Hobbit. We first learn about him sitting in his comfortable home which had been built by his father, Bungo Baggins. Bilbo is a bit of a homebody. Like most hobbits he doesn’t travel much and prefers to stay in his area, known as the Shire.
