This book by Quentin Blake will have the same appeal to children as the immortal Mr Magnolia. The story is told by two neighbourhood children in off-beat rhyming text which is complemented by the vivid illustrations.

There is also a picture of Daisy Artichoke and the two children on the cover. Daisy is in the middle with one arm round each of the children. She is wearing a blue and white striped T-shirt, a red waistcoat and a lovely big yellow floppy hat decorated with red, yellow and orange flowers. Around her neck is a black shoelace tied in a bow. She has long orangy brown hair which is tied into two bunches with green ribbons at the ends and has an enormous smile on her face, she's obviously having a really good time. Her left arm is round the little girl who has long blonde hair and is wearing a white T-shirt and yellow dungarees. Her other arm is round the boy who has short orangey brown hair and is also wearing a white T-shirt and dungarees but his are blue. Both children have great big smiles and are waving at us. I think they are brother and sister they look so similar they might even be twins.
