Transforming young lives
We are delighted to share with you our Children’s Impact Report 2020. This survey provides a powerful and moving insight into the lives of our blind and partially sighted young library members, highlighting the fundamental difference our work makes to them and their families.
Thank you to the library members who took part and shared their experiences and stories. The results are compelling:
- 97% are more confident in joining in class activities and discussions
- 99% benefitted from an increase in shared experiences with sighted friends, family and peers
- 98% benefited from improved confidence in reading.
“Sharing a book instead of just listening to a story makes a huge difference to story time, he likes to join in and loves feeling the pictures.” Parent
“[The Living Paintings Touch to See books] bring confidence and calm, and interest to him. They allow him to make connections between the real world, his experiences and the stories.” Parent
“The touch and listen resources provide inclusivity in lessons and allow the whole class to do the same task, based around the Living Paintings resource.” Teacher
This fantastic feedback makes us exceptionally proud of the valuable work that we do to improve young lives. Thank you to all of our funders, individual donors and volunteers who make our service possible – together we are helping to transform the lives of so many blind and partially sighted children in the UK.
