Bringing a work of art to life for Derek, Touch to See Book Club member
23rd June 2015
So many times we have been asked, “So what’s it like using the Touch to See Book Club titles? Does it really open up another world for a blind and partially sighted person?”
Derek, a Book Club member in Edinburgh, explains it perfectly in this short video. His group had borrowed The Blitz and Derek told us that feeling the tactile image and listening to the audio guide has inspired him, and given him something he thought he would never experience again. He explained how the detailed description on the audio guide really helped him to develop a clear and accurate representation of the painting Totes Meer by Paul Nash.
This video is a wonderful and personal explanation of how our Touch to See Book Club titles provide blind and partially sighted adults a new way of experiencing the visual world.
