Meet the Paralympic Superstars: a brand new Touch to See experience

26th March 2024

As we’re gearing up for the Paris 2024 Games, we’re delighted to release a brand new Touch to See experience that will bring the Paralympics to life for blind and visually impaired children.

Paralympic Superstars is a brand new tactile-audio learning resource that gives blind and visually impaired children the opportunity to meet their para-athletic heroes and learn more about diversity in sports.

Featuring a range of tactile images, we’re joined by a host of superstars who guide fingers over the tactile images to help blind and visually impaired children build a picture of their heroes and the sporting action in their minds.

Our audio includes contributions from swimmer Ellie Simmonds, track gold medalist Libby Clegg, wheelchair track athlete Tanni Grey-Thompson, Invictus Games medalist JJ Chalmers and sports presenter Clare Balding.

As well as guiding users over the tactile images, each contributor has also shared exclusive content – giving insight into their journey into the world of para-sports and celebrating difference and diversity at The Games.

Libby Clegg said:

“It’s such an honour to be included in this unique project. Being visually impaired myself, it was a pleasure to share my story and help other blind and visually impaired young people feel included as we approach the 2024 Paris Games. I truly hope that by being involved I can help these children to know that anything is possible – and perhaps inspire the next generation of Paralympic superstars.”

This unique resource is designed to align with Key Stage 2 and 3 learning at school or at home – but can be borrowed by anybody looking to learn more about inclusivity in sports.

Check out the carefully created tactile images which bring the para-superstar’s experiences to life…
