Inspiring blind kids to get creative! A new bumper art experience arrives in our library
26th February 2024
Our new tactile-audio boxset, My Art and Craft Book, brings works of art from the Tate collection to life for blind and visually impaired children and comes with a free bag of crafting goodies so they can create their own masterpieces.
As a charity, we started 35 years ago with the mission to bring works of art to life for blind people through touch and sound. A lot has changed since then! But we’re delighted to be returning to our roots with this recent addition to our library of accessible books and resources for blind and visually impaired children.
In My Art and Craft Book, our new tactile and audio boxset, we take blind and visually impaired children on a journey to experience six major artworks from the world-famous Tate collection; guided by a host of stars including TV presenter and artist Anneka Rice, Bridgerton’s Adjoa Andoh and CBeebies legend Chris Jarvis.
Our guides each take on one of the artworks and guide little fingers over the raised pictures to help blind and visually impaired children build up a picture in their minds – helping them ‘see’ these famous pieces in their own way.
Each pack also comes with a free gift of art and craft materials so the blind and visually impaired children in your care can get their creative juices flowing and create their very own masterpieces inspired by the greats. We also provide some handy guidance to help you get them started.
Our Art and Craft Book is designed to support Key Stage 1 learning at school and home – but is suitable for kids of any age who want to explore their arty side!
Let’s take a look at the artworks coming to life in our pack and inspiring our kids to get creative…
