Get set go! Summer Games Celebrations is one of three new sensory experiences that give blind and visually impaired children the opportunity to dive into the world of the summer Olympics through touch and sound picture books.
Alongside a huge range of tactile images, you’re guided by a star-studded lineup of Olympic heroes who help guide fingers over the raised images to build a picture of the action in their minds and are packed full of exclusive interviews giving an insight into their experiences at The Games.
Introduced by para-athlete JJ Chalmers, this sensory experience takes blind and visually impaired children and young people on an adventure exploring different sporting events, inspiring them to get involved.
Clare Balding brings her effortless and friendly sports presenting skills and guides us through multiple interviews as part of the immersive audio descriptions with superstar Olympians such as Hurdler Colin Jackson, Swimmer Karen Pickering and rower Sir Matthew Pinsent. Alongside the audio guides, each interview gives a real-life perspective of what the sport feels like, delving into different sensory explorations.
This boxset is perfect for children and young people to explore different sports, helping build their confidence. It’s also a great resource for learning in school and home-schooling, aided to support subjects across the National Curriculum all year round.
Let’s take a look at the different sports which are highlighted in our tactile images below…
