When the madcap Mrs Armitage is given a boring old car by her Uncle Cosmo it soon becomes clear that her driving skills leave a lot to be desired. Will she ever become Queen of the Road?
Hello my name is Quentin Blake and we are going to read a book together called 'Mrs Armitage, Queen of the Road.'
On the front cover, near to the binding, you will find the title in Braille. On the cover is a picture of our main character, Mrs Armitage. She is driving an old fashioned green car which looks as though it's falling to pieces. The car has no roof, bumpers, mud guards, hubcaps or even bonnet. Breakspear, her little white dog, is sitting on the back seat looking very relaxed and his ears are flapping in the wind. However, there are some birds flying about with rather scared looks on their faces and it looks like the birds have a good reason to be worried, as Mrs Armitage is driving down a hill at quite a speed. How can I tell? Well, her grey hair and pink scarf are blowing out behind her in the wind. What is going on?
Mrs Armitage, Uncle Cosmo and Brakespear (her dog)
Car and a skeleton version of the car
2 Motorbikes.
