With a name like Preston you might think our hero is a boy - but he isn't. He is a little fat piglet. Colin McNaughton wrote the story and drew the pictures in this book which is about the things that almost happen to Preston on his way home from school one day.
On the front cover our little friend Preston is happily dancing along the pavement on his back legs wearing red and white stripy dungarees - a bright blue cap and carrying his school bag on his back, but hovering over him is the shadow of the BIG BAD WOLF! The wolf's shadow is a dark patch the same shape as him, where the light hasn't got past him; it is like a piece of paper the same shape as the wolf lying flat against the pavement and wall. He is standing behind Preston so the little pig doesn't know he is there. I wonder what he wants. I'm sure it is nothing good because he really is a nasty wolf; Preston had better watch out!
