This fun educational resource contains brightly coloured raised tactile pictures and a lively audio guide. This resource provides an introduction to the Living Paintings system for explaining and exploring pictures which consists of raised, tactile pictures, accompanied by audio descriptions. It will help blind and partially sighted young children to progress with using Living Paintings free library of Touch to See Books and enable them to gain the most from the experience.

This is a picture of a lovely green crisp apple. Apples are round like a ball, but in our picture it feels like a large raised rounded bump. That's because we're only feeling one side of it, and not feeling around the whole apple. In a picture you can only see one side of things. Place your fingers at the top of the apple. Can you feel the raised line at the top? This is the stalk, which holds the apple onto the tree. Now, with both hands feel around the shape down to the bottom. Can you find the little ridges under the apple?

Introductor pack No.1 As the chid is only in nursery part time we did not manage to use all the feely pictures. However she enjoyed the Mr Gumpy picture which I followed up with Mr Gumpy's outing. Will borrow this again when she is in Reception. Janine
