Enjoyable and InterestingMembers of our club on this occasion used Hunting by Night at home with their family members. They found the audio accompaniment particularly enjoyable and the topic very interesting. One member had not used Living Paintings resources before and really enjoyed the experience.Library Member

Listen to an audio clip
Running from the centre to left is a gnarled branch with a rounded end where it has been sawn off. Trace the top of this branch upwards and round until you feel three of the bird's toes. Above them, his full downy breast reaches to the most characteristic part of his body - his head. Feel his enormous eyes set in their large circles of radiating feathers. These make the look of the tawny owl so outstanding and appealing. The eye on the left is wide open, the other half closed - this is another owl characteristic and leads people to think that they are being blinked at!

A really good activity to bring the group togetherGood detail about the individual birds, ecology and behaviours. Excellent descriptions of their habitat which really helps you put it all into context. The guidance notes were very useful. They gave me (the group leader) some ideas to think about. Thank you Living Paintings.Library Member
Used on a bat walk - very goodWe used 'Hunting by Night' in conjunction with going out on a night time bat walk and it really enhanced the activity. It was great for people to be able to feel the size and shape of a bat so they knew exactly what was flying around their heads!Open Country
