Living Paintings

Thank you.

27th March 2026

The Arts for Impact logo, which consists of a pink triangle pointing downwards and a smaller black triangle beside it. The pink triangle contains the text 'Arts for Impact' whilst the black triangle contains the text 'Big Give'.

From the 17th to the 24th of March, we took part in the Big Give Arts for Impact campaign, raising funds to produce an accessible version of Russell Tovey’s Art School (in a Book). Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our supporters and the matched funding by Big Give, we raised the funds we need to make this a reality!

Here are some of our campaign highlights…

Axel Scheffler supports our campaign!

The beloved illustrator of countless classics including The Gruffalo, Axel Scheffler’s artwork has filled bedrooms, classrooms, and imaginations across the world.

Axel has been a long-time supporter of Living Paintings, which is something we’ve been so grateful for. Over the years, we’ve adapted lots of Julia and Axel titles into audio tactile books for blind and visually impaired children, and they’re always popular amongst our beneficiaries.

Thank you so much, Axel, for lending your voice to help bring art to blind children.

Greg James brings Supertato to life for visually impaired children!

Whilst he’s not cycling miles for Comic Relief, radio presenter Greg James can also be found in a recording studio, reading our audio descriptive guide to Supertato and bringing its brilliant illustrations to life for blind children!

Watch how Mia is able to engage with the illustrations and the story using touch and sound.

Thank you, Greg, for helping blind and visually impaired children access art. Thank you also to the amazing Mia for her time and energy in reviewing Supertato! We love the pea too!

Oi Frog! illustrator Jim Field supports Arts for Impact campaign

The illustrator of the beloved Oi Frog! story knows better than most the power of illustration to delight, surprise and connect children with the world around them.

As Jim says — “Art is a language, a language that is enjoyed by young children. But, for children who are blind and visually impaired, that world can seem out of reach.”

That’s why Living Paintings creates tactile, audio books for blind and visually impaired children — and why Oi Frog! has a proud place in our FREE postal library.

Thank you so much, Jim, for your support.

From all of us at Living Paintings, and the blind and visually impaired who benefit from our free service, THANK YOU!

If a child you know loves art and wants to know more (and do more, because this will come with a pack of art material to keep) then this is the book for you.

We can’t wait to get started on it and will let you know when it’s ready!
