Two images. The first is a tactile page of Usain Bolt. The second is a painter waving as she paints a tactile of Usain Bolt holding the Jamaican flag above his head.

We believe everyone should dream big. That’s why everyday we work hard to bring our big dream to life, to bring the visual world to life for children who are blind. And speaking of big dreams… we’ve just placed new books on our library shelves, the next in our Little People, BIG DREAMS seriesLittle People, BIG DREAMS: Usain Bolt!

Who is Usain Bolt?

Growing up in Jamaica, Usain was a standout cricketer and sprinter from a young age. His school coach noticed his talent, and, by age fourteen, he was wowing fans with his speed on the track.

A braille page from Little People, BIG DREAMS: Usain Bolt.

Due to a medical condition named scoliosis, it took Usain time to develop a training routine that worked for him.

By listening to his body and working with professionals, he put his name in the history books when he became the 100m and 200m world record holder at the world championships. Usain Bolt went on to become an eight-time Olympic gold medallist, and widely recognised as the greatest sprinter of all time.

Alongside his Olympic success, Usain even found time to start a foundation to help children achieve their dreams. It’s the perfect story to teach children who are blind or visually impaired that any dream is achievable.

The tactile images in this special book show Usain’s life from a young boy and aspiring cricketer to his incredible success in the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
