Laura Brand meets our inspirational volunteers

Recently, we were delighted to welcome Laura Brand of @TheJoyJournal, back to our production rooms to learn more about how our books for blind children are made and meet the inspiring volunteers who give up their time to make our work possible.

Laura had previously come to our recording studio to provide audio for an upcoming project, and was so touched by what she saw that she decided to come back with a small film crew to help raise awareness of our work.

Laura is married to comedian and actor Russell Brand, and they were both kind enough to share the film across their social channels for us. As a small charity, exposure like this means so much – and thanks to their support we have been able to reach more blind and partially sighted children and young people.

Laura said:

“Our girls love story time. It’s a moment where we can come together as a family with a picture book, share a story and escape to a magical world. It breaks my heart that so many blind children miss out on these special moments.

After visiting Living Paintings, I was so inspired by their unique work that brings the visual world to life for blind children, so they can enjoy children’s books just like everybody else.

Together, Russell and I are hoping to raise funds to help this amazing charity create new tactile-audio experiences for blind children and help more families discover their wonderful world of books.”
