Louis Moorhouse on Ten to the Top with Children in Need! - Living Paintings

Living Paintings

Did you catch Louis Moorhouse, one of our brilliant trustees, on BBC Radio 2’s Ten to the Top with Paddy McGuinness?

Louis was asked to do the quiz because Living Paintings receives funding from Children in Need, and, thanks to his exemplary musical knowledge, flew through the ten questions – and came out smiling on the other side!

Louis also took the opportunity to speak about the work we do at Living Paintings, and how, through our tactile-audio books and learning resources, we’re bringing the visual world of picture books and learning to life for children who are blind and visually impaired.

Who is Louis?

Louis stands facing us with a big smile on his face. He's holding up a tactile image of the Weeping Angels and the Tenth Doctor, which is from Part 3 of our Doctor Who collection.

Those familiar with Living Paintings are likely already familiar with Louis. Blind from a young age due to complications with childhood cancer, Louis’ love of Living Paintings (and Doctor Who) prompted him to lead a crowdfunding campaign, which raised nearly £25,000. Thanks to Louis’ remarkable effort, and the incredible support of his donors, we were able to produce our three-part Doctor Who series!

Louis also produces the audio descriptive guides that go with our Touch to See books, as well as the music that begins each guide. Because of his incredible work for Living Paintings, we asked Louis to be one of our Trustees, a role he was more than happy to fulfil.

How can you support Living Paintings?

Whether big or small, we rely on donations to ensure we can continue to provide Touch to See books and learning resources to our library members FOR FREE.

Thank you so much to BBC Radio 2 and Children in Need for giving Louis the opportunity to compete in Ten to the Top, and for helping raise awareness of our mission to bring the visual world to life for children who are blind and visually impaired.
