In a big old house, the ladybird is visiting her friend the spider for the festive season. But those two bad men, Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len, are up to no good again. They have a devious plan – to steal the children’s Christmas presents from their stockings! It’s a good thing that the clever little ladybird has overheard their awful plotting, and she has a cunning plan to make sure they don’t get away with it.

From the bestselling, award-winning team of Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks.

Read by Roisin Conaty, actress and comedian.

Hello my name’s Roisin. This is a story about a quiet little ladybird whose clever plan helps to save Christmas! The book cover shows a winter scene. In the night sky Santa is in his sleigh, pulled by his prancing reindeer. Two men, dressed up as a Santa and his Elf, are walking up a path towards a spooky manor house. These are the baddies – Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len! They’re surrounded by lots of animals. There’s a Great Dane dog wearing a red Christmas hat, a Siamese cat, a white mouse and the star of the story, a tiny red and black ladybird. We’ve created a feely picture of some of these animals, so turn over the page and let’s explore them together.

Wonderfully created feely pictures! What a joy it was to share this book together. The rhythm and repetition enabled my daughter to join in and continue to be engaged from start to finish, and the wonderfully created feely pictures add that much needed detail to bring the story to life. Parent
