Suitable for: 5-7 years (Key stage 1)

Available braille grades: Grade 1, Grade 2

A perfect read for unicorn lovers, this beautiful and utterly transporting picture book tells the story of what every little girl wishes would happen to her: a girl finds and takes care of a lost baby unicorn.
Margaret’s whole world changes when her family moves to a cottage by the sea. One evening, Margaret spots a mist over the water. No, that’s not mist … clouds maybe? No, they’re unicorns descending onto the shore! They vanish as quickly as they’d appeared, but accidentally leave behind a baby, tangled in the weeds…

(violin playing) Hello, my name’s Shirley Henderson. This is the story of a little girl called Margaret and a very magical thing that happens when she and her family move to a cottage in the Scottish Highlands. The title of the book, ‘Margaret’s Unicorn’, is written at the top of the cover in bold purple lettering.
The big picture on the front cover shows Margaret and her little unicorn looking over a wooden fence. It must be breezy because Margaret’s long, dark brown hair is blowing out behind her. The two friends are standing on the edge of a field full of green grass and wild flowers – soft purple heather and bright yellow gorse.
