Yes, these fishermen are actually birds! First enjoy a meander through watery habitats, then feel these two very different birds. You’ll learn the techniques they have for putting food on the ‘table’!

Listen to an audio clip

A low-profile paradise of dykes and reed beds, alive in summer with the harsh chatter of reed and sedge warblers, and heady with the mingling of marshy smells; mud, reeds and water mint.
The Washlands of East Anglia are storage areas for flood water. Huge numbers of waterfowl are attracted here in winter and the fenlands also support great numbers of breeding ducks and waders. On a cold winter's day, it's good to be in the warm observation hide, looking over the vast wetlands and listening to the bugling calls of the Whooper and Bewick Swans (BEWICK), gathering to be fed.

Full and Interesting We found this book particularly interesting as the Herons are frequent visitors to us. We had lengthy discussions and found this title full and interesting Library Member
Thought it was great This is the first Living Paintings book we have used. We thought it was great. We work with people with mixed abilities and varying levels of vision so it was a really good activity to bring the group together. Everyone could participate - those with sight as well as those with limited sight. We will be using other books again! Library Member

A lovely story - our group did not find the thermoforms very useful.

Good detail about the individual birds; ecology; behaviours etc Good detail about the individual birds; ecology; behaviours etc as well as good descriptions of their habitat - this puts it all into context. The guidance notes were very useful. They gave me some ideas to think about. The book was used quite 'informally' we listened to the audio description in the minibus whilst we were on our way to the wetland habitat. Then we did some bird watching/nature walk and people were able to use the thermoforms, we had informal discussions throughout. We are out in the countryside a lot so anything to do with nature/animals/bird watching conversation is wonderful for our Club. Library Member
